Artist makes collection of 'uncut lamps' you can mount on your wall
An anonymous contemporary artist who goes by the name Monsby introduced a new take on lamps, presenting the everyday appliance with a human design.
Available in a selection of colors and motifs, the limited edition "boner lamps" were inspired by an odd combination of a medieval torch, a city, and an erect penis. The appliances were described to give “light as a symbol of new life.”
Their most popular piece was the pink lamp named as “San Francisco Boner in Pink.” In Monsby’s Instagram post on August 11, a short video was provided to showcase the function of the lamp and how it can be turned on and off.
The artist captioned the clip, "New lamp collection. Maximum meanings in minimal shapes."
Aside from pink, the lamp also comes in green and blue. For variety, Monsby also integrated a bedazzled ring and some spikes into the pieces. The shiny addition to the lamp was inspired by “Italian fashion,” whereas the spikey ones were said to be based on the “vibe and architecture of London.”
The series of wall lamps are priced at $1,000 (P55,820) and $1,500 (P83,800), all being sold in limited stocks, with a wooden box and a certificate of authenticity.
The racy lamps aren’t the only thing that Monsby introduced as their work. On Aug. 30 of last year, the artist also released the “Capitalism Hole,” which is a piece that involved dollar bills that were arranged together to form a circle.
