Two cravings, one neighborhood stop
While many restaurant chains gravitate toward malls, where foot traffic is concentrated, The Bistro Group sees an opportunity in bringing its brands closer to people’s workplaces, homes, and everyday routines.
Its standalone Denny’s on P. Ocampo St. in Makati City, which also houses Randy’s Donuts, reflects this approach. By bringing the two brands to a neighborhood setting, the group offers an alternative to the mall experience, making dining more accessible to people who live or work nearby.
I, for one, welcome the idea. Malls are convenient because you can run errands, shop, and eat in one place. But on weekends, when the crowds swell and finding a table becomes an exercise in patience, that convenience can quickly wear off. There have been times when, after a grocery run, my family and I would leave the mall to find somewhere else to eat. Sometimes, a good meal is best enjoyed away from the crowds—without having to compete for a table.
The Bistro Group chief marketing officer Lisa Ronquillo-Along says the choice of location was influenced by the success of the group’s Siklab restaurant in Kamagong, Makati City.

“We saw the success of Siklab outside a mall setting,” she explains. “Also, P. Ocampo has a good trading area and is also part of Makati.”

The choice makes sense given the area’s mix of residential and commercial establishments. Condominiums and office spaces line the vicinity, putting the restaurant within reach of residents and office workers looking for a convenient place to eat.
During the Oct. 22 opening, there was no ribbon to cut. Instead, Bistro Group executives and guests, led by actress Rhian Ramos, pressed buzzers to officially open the store, setting off a shower of confetti. The celebration continued inside, where Rhian joined the crew in an impromptu dance number.
“The opening of Denny’s and Randy’s at P. Ocampo, Makati, is another milestone for The Bistro Group,” says The Bistro Group president Jean Paul-Manuud. “Bringing hearty meals, comfort classics, and genuine hospitality closer to the community is always exciting.”
Paul also congratulated the team behind the opening and thanked the City of Makati, led by Mayor Nancy Binay, and Makati DRRM OIC PBGen. Rodelio Jocson for their continued support in fostering business growth and community development.
A neighborhood table
The appeal of the new location isn’t just that it’s outside a mall. There’s Denny’s for a proper sit-down meal and Randy’s Donuts for those times when a little sweetness is in order.
While Denny’s has its own dessert offerings, like the Chocolate Avalanche, a decadent drink topped with a slice of chocolate mousse cake, Randy’s Donuts and hot or iced brews offer a different kind of indulgence. Its donuts also make great pasalubong, whether you’re bringing home a box for the family or sharing them with colleagues.
Known for its American-style diner fare, Denny’s offers an All Day Combo starting at P375. Guests can put together a meal with a starter, an entrée, and a drink, making it an option for those looking for a filling meal at a reasonable price.
The menu caters to different cravings throughout the day, from breakfast to lunch and dinner. Choices include the Honey Riblet and Asian Salad, as well as fried barramundi for those who prefer seafood. The chimichanga offers a Mexican-inspired option, while the Inasal is worth a mention. I tried the boneless chicken, which was juicy and perfectly grilled, with those appetizing char marks to show for it.
Coffee and donuts made more affordable
I’ve always had a soft spot for Randy’s Donuts—and not just because Randy happens to be my husband’s name. The donuts and coffee are reason enough to drop by, and the new Hearty Combo makes the visit even more appealing.
Priced at just P90, the combo comes with a coffee and a Classic Rounds donut. It’s an easy, affordable option for a coffee break, a quick sweet fix, or a little treat while on the go.
With Randy’s donuts and coffee available alongside Denny’s hearty meals, guests can enjoy both brands without having to go to separate locations.
Whether it’s a proper meal, a coffee break, or a box of donuts to take home, having both under one roof gives me one more reason to drop by—Randy connection and all.
