No meat? No problem!
Whether you’re observing Lent or cutting back on meat for any reason, we’ve got you covered. Here’s a list of great sandwiches for you to enjoy, from fish and shrimp patties to hearty plant-based creations.
Mos Burger's Ebi Katsu Burger

Japanese chain MOS Burger doesn’t just serve its popular chili-topped Mos Cheeseburger and rice burgers (love the yakiniku one), it also has seafood offerings. The Ebi Katsu Burger features a crunchy panko-covered shrimp cutlet tucked into a soft bun with lettuce, shredded cabage and creamy tartar sauce—a satisfying seafood sandwich that will hit the spot. Enjoy it on its own for P219 or get a full meal with French fries, wedge-cut fries, Japanese house salad or Caesar salad and a drink. Mos also has a Fish Burger (P199) and Double Fish Burger (P299) on its menu. Love eel? Try the Unagi Rice Burger for P449. If you’re going low-carb, go for the Ebi Katsu Lettuce Wrap for P219 or Fish Lettuce Wrap for P199.

McDonald's Ebi Burger

I miss McDonald’s Filet-O-Fish and I know I’m not the only one. I also miss their Lenten special Fish & Fries which we last got to enjoy in 2023. For 2025, McDonald’s brought back last year’s Lent offering: the Ebi Burger. It’s also a winner for three reasons—the crispness of the shrimp patty, the accessibility (it’s everywhere!), and the fact that, at just P159, it’s the most affordable sandwich on this list. Get it a la carte or as a meal or try it with the Cheese Dunk. McDonald’s also offers a new Chili Con Carne Dunk but skip that if you’re going meatless.

Wendy's Fish Fillet Sandwich

For a long time, my go-to order at Wendy’s was their shrimp sandwich but it seems to have disappeared from the menu. What they have right now, for a limited time, is a Fish Fillet Sandwich that’s light and fresh, with cucumber, lettuce and a dressing that’s slightly sweet. The fish fillet, said to be made with Alaskan pollock, is flaky and coated in a crunchy batter. Enjoy it solo for P180 or make it a combo meal for P255.

8 Cuts' Shrimp 'Wich

8 Cuts has three sandwiches you can choose from: The Falafel (chickpea patty with yogurt sauce), the Fish ‘Wich, or my pick, the Shrimp ‘Wich. This hefty sandwich (P380) consists of a whole shrimp patty, pickled jalapeño, housemade pickles, lettuce, jalapeño ranch sauce and brioche buns. It’s generous in shrimp and the jalapeño adds a nice kick. Pair it with 8 Cuts’ onion rings. They’re usually served with ketchup but I always order the house ranch to go with the rings.

Burger Beast’s Truffle Fish Burger

Burger Beast elevates your classic fish fillet burger by smothering it in with what they call “trufflicious sauce,” a creamy truffle sauce they typically put in their bestselling truffle burger. I wasn’t sure it was a combination that would work but I was pleasantly surprised. It’s an indulgent treat that will be a hit with people obsessed with everything truffle-flavored. Order it for P249.
Bun Appetit's Seafood Rolls
They’re not really burgers but can you blame me for adding them to the list? Bun Appetit’s seafood sandwiches are top notch. They’ve been delighting people for over a decade now with their ever-evolving seafood menu. Their bestselling rolls now come in more options—lobster tail (P1,300), shrimp (P450), crab (P550), fried oyster (P450), Chilean langostino (P1,000)—served in split-top potato buns. Can’t decide between shrimp and crab? You can do half and half for P500. They can also serve the seafood in baos instead of buns. Their seafood grilled cheese sandwiches (lobster, langostino, crab, shrimp, scallops—P400 to P1300) are also popular. Visit their branch at Corner House in San Juan to try their seafood-topped bagels (ikura, smoked salmon, anchovy, crab).
Bun Appetit is at The Grid Food Market at Power Plant Mall in Rockwell and The Corner House in San Juan.
Army Navy's Plant-Based Burge

Army Navy has a line of plant-based burritos, tacos, quesadillas and burgers. The Plant-Based Burger (P320) looks like a burger but is actually made with a plant-based UnMeat patty. Made of soy protein, UnMeat patties are 100-percent plant-based and non-GMO. Get that burger experience minus the guilt. Want a bigger burger? Get the Double Plant-Based Burger (P435) or the Plant-Based Bully Boy Burger which features a stack of three patties (P550).

Raging Bull Burgers’ The Clean Slate

While unwrapping a Raging Bull Burger, you will most likely read these words: “At Raging Bull Burgers, we take burgers seriously.” And they don’t just mean their beefy creations—The Clean Slate makes it clear that they’re just as committed to their veggie option. It’s a symphony of tastes and textures: crispy squash patty with kidney beans, iceberg lettuce, cauliflower parsley tabbouleh and vegan BBQ sauce in a corn bun. It’s big in size and flavor. It’s available for P315.
Raging Bull Burgers is at Assembly Grounds Makati, Shangri-La The Fort BGC and Shangri-La Plaza Ortigas
Sweet Ecstacy Fillet Fish

Here’s another solid offering: Sweet Esctacy’s Filet X Fish (P340). I’m glad they made it part of the regular menu. It’s breaded Alaskan pollock, cheese and tartar sauce in Sweet Ecstacy’s pillowy bun.
This one’s a no-brainer—it’s a great fish sandwich and my choice when craving a Filet-O-Fish. Sweet Ecstacy also has Filet-X-Shrimp and Beyond X Vegan Burger on the menu.

Shake Shack's 'Shroom Burger

During one of the taste test sessions, a group of us got together to evaluate the sandwiches. From that big batch, our top choice was unanimous: Shake Shack’s ‘Shroom Burger: pillowy potato bun with a big crisp-fried portobello mushroom filled with melted muenster and cheddar cheese, topped with lettuce, tomato and ShackSauce. It’s juicy, it’s cheesy, it’s so satisfying. I’ve loved it for years. It’s a sandwich so good it can stand side by side with Shake Shack’s famous burgers. It’s no substitute, it’s a star in its own right and it seriously doesn’t feel like a sacrifice.
Get it for P515.
