NEW FINDS
Carry Om's first Omniversary bags are totes that will turn heads
Carry Om is revamping its popular Mala tote in time for its first "omniversary."
The bag brand partnered with seven Manila-based artists to create special prints to turn the totes into visual feasts.
The collaboration collection features the artworks of Jim Weaver, Bitto, Studio Siriusdan, Jethro Olba, Sab Cabredo, Riesolai, and Deejae Paeste.
For her design, Riesolai, a digital and tattoo artist, shared on Instagram that she reflected on the feeling of being a fragment, "like a 'MuseOM of Everything and Everyone I Loved,' where traces of people, moments, and emotions remained preserved."
"I often remember the phrase, 'May flowers grow in the saddest part of you.' For me, art becomes a slow form of healing, where even the most fragile feelings are allowed to bloom," Riesolai wrote.
Meanwhile, artist and muralist Bitto said the collaboration was the "easiest yes," because he loves Carry Om's bags.
"I bought my first OM bag before traveling to Thailand last year before this collaboration was a conversation," he wrote on Instagram.
"When the opportunity came to design for [Carry Om], I said yes because I loved the idea of taking the energy of a place like Yaowarat Street and condensing it into a functional object that people can carry with them. It's a great way to make my art accessible and mobile."
Cabredo, for her part, talked about how her piece circles on the beauty of transition.
"In a season of massive growth, I wanted to capture the art of finding stillness amidst the change—a reminder that we deserve moments of peace even while we thrive."
She added that she's followed Carry Om since their early months, so the collaboration was a "full circle moment."
For Olba, his design was born from a quiet studio session during a slow afternoon of "experimenting, vibing, making things."
"Sobrang solid ng details and sumakto 'yung color blocking at nagcomplement sya mismo sa illustration palette na sinet ko," he wrote.
Jim Weaver Designs' Isabelle Ocier created a visual design that featured "bits" of their world, like the Tarsier No Evil trio, a cheetah bloom, and mala beads.
"The beads symbolize the meaningful pieces inside the mala bag, illustrated as hanging charms; dragon beads, butanding charms, and Chinese knot tassels."
True to Studio Siriusdan fashion, their Mala tote collab is hand-painted.
"A shared love for bold colors, thoughtful detail, and playful functionality brought this together—naturally, instinctively," the studio said on Instagram.
Carry Om is dropping the collection exclusively at its first Omniversary happening on March 28 and 29 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the 3rd Floor Open Space, YL Holdings Building in Legazpi Village, Makati. Admission to the event is free.
The Mala totes cost P5,950, with the piece from Studio Siriusdan priced at P6,950.
