Two Michelin Star:
- Helm
Helm in Makati City meanwhile retains its status as the only restaurant in the Philippines with a two-star rating from Michelin.
Josh Boutwood, the head chef and founder of Helm, highlighted that he and his team have "tried very hard to retain these two stars."
"My team has been endlessly working day and night just to make sure that our quality, our service, our experience is identical to what it was since day one, and trying to make minor improvements every single day. Here I am today, very happy and thrilled, and obviously a massive thank you to my team," he said.
Gracing the event was President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., who highlighted how Filipino cuisine reflects the country's identity and culture, saying, "For Filipinos, food is never just about food."
"It is how we welcome guests, how we bring our families together, and share a little of ourselves with others. It is how we turn a simple meal into a memory, and a stranger into a friend," he said.
"Our adobo, kinilaw, sisig, and countless regional specialties tell the story of who we are. They reflect our resourcefulness and the richness of the ingredients found across our islands. And many of these recipes have been passed down through many generations," he added.
During the ceremony, the guide also introduced the "Michelin Guide Mindful Voices," which is an editorial platform that's designed to "highlight individuals who are pioneering new approaches in the fields of gastronomy, hospitality, and wine."
The restaurants are assessed based on five criteria, namely, the quality of ingredients; mastery of cooking techniques; harmony of flavors; personality of the cuisine; and consistency.
The latest selection follows the Michelin Guide's inaugural Philippine edition in 2025, which featured more than 100 restaurants in Manila, nearby provinces, and Cebu. The first selection included 74 Michelin Selected establishments, 25 Bib Gourmand restaurants, eight One Michelin Star honorees, and one Two Michelin Star recipient.
This year's ceremony also comes during the centenary of the Michelin Star, which was introduced in 1926 to recognize restaurants for outstanding cooking and culinary mastery.
