Looking for destinations to visit this Autumn?

Autumn is one of the best seasons to take a vacation—the cold breeze, dry lands, and stunning views of yellow, orange, and red just give that warm and cozy feeling to enjoy. (Not to mention, it serves as the perfect backdrop for your OOTDs.)

According to the Henley Passport Index, Philippine passport holders can visit 67 countries visa-free. If you need a travel fix and have been dreaming of experiencing the enchanting season of Autumn, but don’t have a visa to visit popular places like Switzerland, South Korea, or Japan, here are some underrated international destinations to consider for your next trip:

Hong Kong

As one of the all-time favorite destinations, there are always different ways how to rediscover and enjoy Hong Kong. If you have ticked off Disneyland and other famous amusement parks in the region, try going beyond the main cities.

Some of the activities you can do during Autumn are going glamping with your friends in Saiyuen Camping Adventure Park on Cheung Chau Island, participating in the Wine and Dine Festival at the Central Harbourfront Event Space, spending a chill day and having a picnic while soaking in the beauty of Tai Lam Country Park in Tai Tong. Be on the lookout as well for Halloween festivities across the region.

Taiwan
Wuling Farm in Taichung, Taiwan

In case you didn’t know, Pinoy travelers can visit Taiwan visa-free until July 2025, so better to grab this chance and experience fall on this beautiful island.

To make the most out of your visit, book a flight in late October to November to catch the season. Some of the activities you can do are participating in their Mid-Autumn festival, or Moon Festival in Taipei and munching on savory barbeques and of course, the rich in-flavor and filling mooncakes during the moon viewing party.

You can also include a trip to Yangmingshan National Park and take postcard-like photos of the floral landscapes. To beat the chilly air, dip in their hot springs, such as in Guanziling Mud Hot Spring, or watch the sunrise at Chushan Sunrise Observation Platform in Alishan.

Kazakhstan
Lake Kolsay, Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan may not be popular among tourists, but this country has some picturesque mountainscapes for relaxing.

During the autumn season, some events you can experience are the Apple Festival in Almaty or the Alma-Ata Festival.

For a nature fix and stunning views, you can also go hiking/trekking at Charyn Canyon National Park, Big Almaty Lake, Kaindy Lake, or on the outskirts of Altai.

Morocco
Chefchaouen City, Morocco

For adrenaline junkies, a lot of outdoor activities await you in Morocco. You can go trekking at Toubkal National Park— North Africa’s highest peak, or at Ourika Valley—which is famous for its seven waterfalls and stunning valley views of fall colors.

If you want to go on a desert adventure, fret not as Morocco has the Agafay Desert in Marrakech for stunning plateaus, dunes, canyons, and camel treks.

For a chill day, stroll around the famous blue city of Chefchaouen.

Nepal
Buddhist stupa in Khumbu, Nepal

With its clear skies during autumn, Nepal is the place to visit stunning mountains and forests. Some activities you can try are paragliding in the Pokhara Valley, trekking at the Manaslu circuit, or if you’re feeling fancy, going on a helicopter tour over Mount Everest.

If you're not outdoorsy, you can visit their temples, like the Swayambhunath Stupa located on a hillock in the Kathmandu Valley, or the Muktinath Temple.

Note that you must secure a visa on arrival (VOA) to visit the country, which you can do at a Nepal airport or Consulate of Nepal, Manila. Check out this article on how to secure a VOA.
