French restaurant Metronome announces closure

A familiar landmark in Legazpi, Makati is closing for good after five years.

French restaurant Metronome on Monday, July 22 announced that it is officially shutting down.

"Dear friends, it is with deep regret that we announce the permanent closure of Metronome as business," it said.

The restaurant did not mention the reason for its closure. It noted however that the restaurant facilities "remain fully intact and ready to operate." Those who are interested may send a message to [email protected].

"It was a fun five years and we thank everyone for being a part of that," the restaurant wrote.

In May, the restaurant announced that they were closing the restaurant "indefinitely" but told their guests to stay tuned for their reopening.

This comes after the departure of Executive Chef Miko Calo in April of this year.

In a press statement, Calo said that while it was a “difficult decision” to part ways with Metronome, she felt the need “to explore new paths for her personal and professional well-being.”

"I have always advocated for women in my industry to find their own space. A place where they can freely express their creativity and find fulfillment in their craft," she said. "Today, I walk the talk."

The acclaimed restaurant opened in 2019 and earned a spot on the 50 Best Discovery list in 2022.
