#AdoboFails: Common mistakes to avoid when making adobo
Learning how to make adobo?
If you find comfort in the beloved Filipino dish and are still in the process of perfecting your own version, you’ll inevitably encounter a few kitchen boo-boos once in a while. When that happens, remember that it’s totally normal to screw up—and the good news is, there are times when your dish can still be saved.
In case you didn’t know, March 15 was Adobo Day. Some viral stars marked the occasion by sharing their old #AdoboFails and how they turned them into wins with one simple move.
Too burnt
Actor Emilio Daez once tried to make adobo, but was met with the frustrating look and smell of a burnt dish.
He only had the confidence to give it another shot with Knorr Chicken Cubes.
Too much soy sauce
Soy sauce is a must in every traditional adobo, giving it the depth it needs. When making the Pinoy dish, it’s quite common to get a little heavy-handed with this condiment.
Miss Earth 2025 runner-up Joy Barcoma shared that using too much soy sauce can give your adobo a harsh and unpleasant taste as it quickly overwhelms its other flavors.
If you make this mistake, don’t throw it away just yet. Like Joy, you can bring your dish back into balance with Knorr Chicken Cubes.
Too bland
Seasoning one’s dish perfectly can be a challenge for anyone who is just trying their hand at cooking.
One of content creator and influencer Kaila Dy’s #AdoboFails includes ending up with bland adobo.
If you find your take on it falling flat, too, you might want to consider tossing in Knorr Chicken Cubes instead of just adding salt and soy sauce to make it better overall.
When you encounter kitchen mishaps while making adobo, you don’t always have to settle for an unpleasant version, redo it, or completely start over. Sometimes, little additions like Knorr Chicken Cubes can rescue its flavors and even take the entire dish up a notch.
Knorr launched its “KnorrDobo Mo ‘Yan” campaign in time for Adobo Day on March 15. Discover more adobo recipes here. Stay updated about Knorr by following them on Instagram and Facebook.
