LIST: Meat-free food offerings to enjoy this Lenten season

Published Mar 04, 2025 4:28 pm

It's the season of reflection and sacrifice, and for many Catholics, that means giving up meat. But beyond the "panata," Lent is a chance to explore some exciting new meat-free dishes.

In case you didn't know, Catholics aged 14 and above are encouraged to abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, and all Fridays of the Lenten season. According to Philippine Jesuits, exempted from this practice are those with medical conditions, pregnant women, laborers, the materially poor, and those with jobs that require them to be attentive, such as policemen and security guards, doctors and nurses on duty, and the like, as well as the elderly.

If you're craving something different or just want to try some exciting new meat-free dishes, we've got you covered. Here are some restaurants that are going beyond the usual Lenten fare.
