The Halloween season is creeping in and if you are not yet ready to face the horrors of the outside world brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, you can still get in the spooky spirit with this haunting online tour of Manila.

WanderManila, the tour and experiential company that brought “One night in Intramuros” online Halloween tour in 2020, is back this year as it steps outside of the Walled City to bring the viewers around the city once called “Pearl of the Orient” and uncover the darker history of some of its iconic locations.

Manila has witnessed some of the most brutal and violent chapters of the country’s history. The city is also peppered with condemned and restored historical buildings stand still, bearing the secrets of the horrific events of the past that are meant to be explored and discovered.

The free online Halloween event will be livestreamed for free on Oct. 30, 9 p.m., on WanderManila’s Facebook page.

Benjamin Canapi, head tour guide of WanderManila, told PhilSTAR L!fe that viewers can expect this year’s one-hour event to have a mix of history and horror just like last year’s online tour of Intramuros, which attracted over 25,000 viewers.

Recently, the company posted on its social media pages a teaser of what seems to be a location that will be included in the tour—the coffin-shaped Manila City Hall.

Canapi said among the locations that will be tackled in the tour include, Escolta, once considered as “Manila’s ritziest strip;” Paco Park, which was once the city’s municipal cemetery designed for affluent Spanish families and also houses the St. Pancratius Chapel that has been a subject of many paranormal investigations; Arroceros, where some buildings that line the street are said to be haunted; and the University of Santo Tomas, which is considered the oldest university in Asia.

The company started offering virtual experiences when the pandemic grounded its guided tours operations. Aside from its successful online Halloween tours, WanderManila also does paid online tours of Manila, including Stories from the War, Manila HIstory Talk and Hola Intramuros!
