In the mood for love: 10 hotels for a fancy Valentine’s date (or to order from for a home date)

Are you in the mood for love? Valentine’s Day is the perfect reason for a night out with your significant other and enjoy a fancy dinner.

Hotels have always had promos for this holiday, but this year they’re also offering takeout/pick-up packages for those who don’t want to go out to celebrate.

Do make reservations because these restaurants have limited seating, and follow health guidelines set by the government. Here are offerings from luxury hotels that we’ve collated for you.

Discovery Primea

A four-course dinner with breathtaking views of the city or a curated menu to be enjoyed from the safety and comfort of your home await lovers.

For one special weekend, the hotel will reopen Flame, exclusively from Feb. 12 to 14, for a memorable dining experience led by executive chef Luis Chikiamco. 

Dinner begins with an Amuse Bouche, followed by Pan Seared US Scallops as appetizer, with Miso Glazed Black Bass as the fish course. One cannot dine at Flame without trying its Josper-grilled specialties like Rib Eye “Tagalog” as beef course or the “Chocnut’’ Marquise for dessert. 

For those who would like to dine under the stars, guests may opt for the Valentine menu at Edge. Known for its stunning views of the skyline, this al fresco dining experience sets the mood for an evening of romance. The Valentine menu is available for P2,200++ per person inclusive of a box of truffles by pastry chef Ann Garcia. For an additional P500, enjoy two glasses of house wine, or non-alcoholic sparkling wine.

Seats are limited for both restaurants and advance reservations is highly recommended.

For a home feast from Feb. 12 to 15, Discovery Primea’s “It’s A Date!” offers a three-course dinner for P3,000 nett. Dinner includes Sweet Corn Velouté, followed by US Beef Short Ribs Bourguignon, ending with Chocolate Velvet. Inclusive of your choice of either a bottle of Prosecco or non-alcoholic sparkling wine to toast the evening.

The Peninsula Manila

A four-course Valentine’s Dinner under The Lobby’s iconic “Sunburst” sculpture comes at P6,000 nett with a flute of Moët & Chandon Imperial Rose Brut or P4,500 without.

Over at Old Manila, chef de cuisine Allan Briones’ sensory five-course dinner will have taste buds tingling on Feb. 14. The dinner is paired with a variety of wines at P8,500, or P6,000 without.

At Escolta, chef Virgilio Aniceto prepares a seafood dinner buffet on Feb. 13 for P3,100 for adults. On Feb. 14, there’s a fab Sunday brunch buffet for P3,100.

Spices offers on Feb. 14 the exotic flavors of India, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Vietnam at the al fresco Spices Garden with a grill-all-you-can and seafood menu for P4,000 with a flute of Moët & Chandon or P3,000 without.

For takeaway, executive sous chef Xavier Castello and his team prepare a four-course dinner for two. Orders for pick-up are available on Feb. 13 and 14.

Nobu Manila

At Nobu Manila, couples can dine al fresco in the restaurant’s floating-water cabanas surrounded by a lush garden. It offers a five-course Valentine’s Omakase showcasing Nobu’s world-renowned Japanese-Peruvian fusion.

The set menu consists of oysters, yellowtail with Maui salsa, and spicy tuna with crispy rice; a trio of Nobu Sushi Cups composed of toro, uni and Wagyu; Sea Bass Tempura with Inaniwa noodles and uni corn sauce; Sous Vide Australian Tenderloin with truffle butter crust and balsamic reduction; and for dessert, Strawberry yogurt jello treat with fresh strawberries, strawberry sauce and chocolate tuile. The Valentine Omakase is at P10,000 nett for two persons.

City of Dreams

At Café Society, packaged sweet confections are available for take-out from Feb. 7 to 14. The Valentine Love Dome Box consists of three or six assorted chocolates (P400 and P600); an edible Valentine Rose, which comes with different kinds of dragees (P2,500); white chocolate Valentine Cranberry Bar (P700); Spiced Coffee Caramel Passion Fruit Mousse Cake (P1,000); Trio Chocolate Mousse Feuilletine Cake (P1,000); Valentine’s themed cupcakes (P1,000), Linzer cookies (P300); and heart-shaped chocolate Danish pastries (P500); among many others.

Red Ginger will satisfy the cravings of couples for Southeast Asian cuisine. Diners can indulge on the restaurant’s Charcoal-grilled Iberico Pork Belly with Seven Spices; jack fruit and bean curd curry; egg roll with spiced grated coconut; and a choice of either sambal matah or lemongrass liver sauce.

Weekend packages: City of Dreams’s three hotels are offering staycations (only to residents of Metro Manila and Calabarzon). An overnight stay for two adults and two children includes complimentary breakfast for two; 20% food and beverage discount in in-room dining and in restaurants operated by City of Dreams; and a special welcome amenity.

Weekday rates start at P16,400 for Nuwa Manila; P9,400 for Nobu Hotel; P6,300 for Hyatt Regency Manila. Weekends, rates are P17,900 for Nuwa; P10,900 for Nobu; and P7,300 for Hyatt Regency. Booking and stay period is from Feb. 1 to June 30.

Sofitel Philippine Plaza

Love like the French in true gastronomic fashion on Feb. 12-14. Sofitel offers Love by Design, a dinner set amid lush greenery and under the stars with views of Manila Bay.

A four-course dinner features scallop crudo, dry-aged beef tenderloin on the grill with foie gras sauce, goat cheesecake with gianduja crémeux, and a bottle of Moët & Chandon champagne. A violinist serenades couples while the evening is capped off with a bouquet of red roses and artisanal pralines. Love by Design is available on Feb. 13 and 14 at P25,000 nett for two persons. Three days’ advanced reservation is required.

At Spiral, offerings include beef filet mignon with red berries sauce, escargot cassolette with Chablis, and a crudo bar of French oysters, scallops, salmon tartare, and beef carpaccio. The iconic Cheese Room features artisanal cheeses and a selection of matured and flavored Coeur de Neufchatel. Available for lunch and dinner on Feb. 13, and brunch and dinner on Feb. 14, starting at P3,000 nett.

On Feb. 12-14 experience laid-back, al fresco dining at Sunset Bar’s The Food Truck. Valentine’s weekend menu includes foie gras sliders, softshell crab taco, chicken gyro, designer cronuts, and so much more—all paired with free-flowing wine, local beers, and sparkling wine. Grand Hyatt Manila

An exquisite dinner in the romantic ambiance of The Cellar with a four-course menu, inclusive of a glass of red and white wine for P7,800 nett per couple await.

The Peak is offering a delectable five-course menu inclusive of champagne cocktail for P6,000 per person. At the Pool House, a candlelight cabana dinner with a four-course set menu is at P3,200 per person.

Over at The Grand Kitchen, sumptuous dishes and free-flowing beverages are offered at P2,500 per person. At Florentine, choose sweet treats or a beautiful bouquet.

Marriott Manila

CRU Steakhouse highlights new additions to its menu. Start off with Sautéed Goose Liver or Seared Scallops, Caesar Salad, Wild Mushroom Soup, choices of US Certified Angus premium steak cuts or Cape Grim Tasmania (grass-fed) steak, Australian Mulwarra Wagyu Rib eye MBS+9, Cast Iron Specials such as Grilled Salmon and Yellow Fin Tuna with side dishes, steak rice, and sauces.

It also offers Surf and Turf, a combination of Grilled Australian Beef Tenderloin and Jumbo Asian Tiger Prawn or Pan Roasted Barramundi with cauliflower and pine nut pilaf, grilled romaine, and lobster-butter emulsion. End the night with, a dessert made of vegan white chocolate semifreddo, Palawan Honey pockets, vegan chocolate honey comb, pecan crumble, and compressed strawberry.

Available for dinner only from 5 to 10 p.m. on Feb. 12 to 14.

CRU Steakhouse also offers a romantic take-home package for two with Spicy Seafood Gumbo Soup, US Certified Angus Beef Tenderloin (500 grams), dessert, and a bottle of sparkling wine for P 5,800 nett.

Marriott Café offers a four-course couple set menu at P4,200 nett per couple. Available for dinner only from 6 to 9 p.m. on Feb. 13 and 14.

For the whole month of February, Marriott Café Bakery presents Valentine Whole Cakes for P950 available in Strawberry Fields (6-inch round cake), Chocolate Red, and Strawberry Tart. There are also mini cakes for P225 nett.

The Valentine’s To-Go package includes mixed salad, US choice fillet mignon with duchess potato, vichy carrots, mushroom sauce, white velvet for dessert with a bottle of Valdivieso sparkling wine for P5,500. Available from Feb. 10 to 14.

New World Makati

Café 1228 offers all-you-can-eat a la carte selection on Feb. 14 for lunch or dinner. The restaurant’s signature slow roast prime ribeye, rosemary lamb chops, pork cassoulet, braised leg of lamb in red wine, and seared salmon with parmesan crisp and dill cream sauce are just some of the items guests can enjoy along with a complimentary glass of red, white or sparkling wine.

Seafood served hot-off-the-grill include shrimps, blue crabs, clams and mussels; the Italian selection includes pasta and pizza. Chinese, Japanese, regional, and local dishes complete the indulgent spread. Valentine’s Day lunch is P1,188 nett; dinner is P2,500.

The Shop offers treats such as a box of six dark chocolate and lemon-flavored Madeleines (P350), 10 lavender-infused cocoa truffles (P1,000), four large Mandola cookies (P450) and a one-pound or petite-sized Strawberry Rose Cake (P1,600, P450).

For the whole month of February, the hotel is offering room packages starting at P5,300 nett. It includes dinner served in the room, 10% discount on bottle orders for wine and liquor, and breakfast for two at The Granary. Weekends will give you the option to avail of The Granary’s dinner buffet. Friday or Saturday bookings are at Ph5,700, inclusive of breakfast for two.

On Feb. 14, the Valentine’s Day overnight package is at P6,100 with dinner; P3,800 for room only; and P4,200 with breakfast.
