KFC Japan has announced a new actor that will portray the chain's famous Colonel Sanders—and the internet is already loving it.

For a limited time run, Japanese actor Kento Kaku is set to play Sanders in a series of commercials and campaigns. In his first appearance, KFC Japan teased Kaku's arrival with a mukbang video of the star trying out the chain's different chicken offerings.

"The new [character] will be played by the man who loves Kentucky most in Japan," they wrote in Japanese. "Please enjoy the appearance of Mr. Kaku who is full of love and passion for Kentucky."

Fans soon flocked to social media to express their excitement over the new colonel.

"I'm really happy about him [crying emoji] Thank you very much," one user said.

"Kento Kaku! I'm glad that my dream came true 🎵 Congratulations," another fan said in Japanese.

"Thank you for hiring Kento Kaku! I'm really happy that Kaku-kun's dream came true," one fan mentioned.

Meanwhile, Kento is a Japanese-born actor that's appeared in a number of TV shows and movies in the country. His most popular shows include 2020's From Today, It's My Turn and 2017's Psychic Kusuo.

To recall, KFC has been calling up-and-coming actors to portray their Southern founder. In 2019, KFC Philippines tapped Daniel Padilla to be their Colonel Sanders ambassador.
