World's first Gordon Ramsay Idiot Sandwich pop-up now open in BGC
Gordon Ramsay's iconic "Idiot Sandwich" meme has now been turned into a pop-up serving sandwiches in Manila.
The world's first Gordon Ramsay Idiot Sandwich pop-up—styled like a food truck— opened in Uptown Parade in Bonifacio Global City. It'll serve up grub in the central business district until Aug. 16, so make sure to drop by while you can!
Some of the items you can get include the Pastrami Sandwich (P695), which serves beef pastrami, sauerkraut, horseradish, and white cheddar on a pretzel bun; and the Chicken Breakfast Club (P495) with herbed chicken breast, eggs, bacon, and basil mayo in a croissant sandwich.
Other dishes include the Tonkatsu Cubano (P475), a kaiser roll filled with pork katsu, ham, kimchi, miso, and white cheddar; and the Fish, No Chips (P385) with white fish, avocado green goddess dressing, and butterhead lettuce in a potato bun.
The pop-up also has a Classic Ham & Cheese Toastie (P355) and a Chocolate Peanut Butter Whoopie Ice Cream Pie (P260).
Hungry guests can add on pastrami, chicken breast, pork tonkatsu, fish fillet, and ham to their sandwiches if they're hankering for more.
The viral "idiot sandwich" meme came from Ramsay's appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden in 2015. He did a comedy sketch spoofing Hell's Kitchen with Corden and Julie Chen.
"What are you?" Ramsay shouted in the skit at Chen. "An idiot sandwich," she answered.
Ever since, the chef turned the moment into a YouTube series where they cook sandwiches to earn the title of "Idiot Sandwich."
"We started this incredible journey with a bit of fun, but it's turned into a full-blown food obsession. Now, it's landing at Uptown Mall, BGC!" Ramsay said about the new pop-up on Instagram.
The Idiot Sandwich pop-up is open daily from 5 p.m. to 12 a.m.
