Wolfgang Premiere Lounge serves an elevated cinema experience at this mall
Popcorn and soda? Classic cinema snack pairing. But what if your experience could be so much more? Across the globe, the movie-watching experience is being reimagined, with innovations like Malaysia's hotpot cinemas and theaters featuring beds. In Manila, prepare for the next level: the Wolfgang Premiere Lounge. Here, you can immerse yourself in the latest blockbusters while indulging in the exquisite menu of Wolfgang's Steakhouse, including their steaks.
Last week, VIPs, beauty queens, and influencers flocked to Araneta City to celebrate the launch of Wolfgang Premiere Lounge at Gateway Cineplex 18. The Lounge marks the famed steakhouse’s first foray into the moviegoing experience. Moviegoers can enhance their viewing experience by selecting from a specially curated menu featuring Wolfgang Steakhouse's renowned sandwiches, pastas, and beverages while enjoying their favorite films.
The Wolfgang experience began when we arrived at the Lounge, located on the 4th floor of Gateway Mall 2. Positioned between two state-of-the-art cinemas, guests could choose between dining in a posh private setting or ordering food to enjoy with their movie. As moviegoers chatted among themselves between taking selfies and sampling the food, a fully-stocked bar at the back of the lounge provided drinks for everyone in attendance.

For a writer who’s generally happy to enter a cinema with popcorn and soda, this was quite the contrast to the usual film screening; here, we were presented with generous helpings of Wagyu burger sliders, Reuben sandwiches, chips, and shrimp pasta to enjoy with a screening of either Thunderbolts or The Accountant 2.
Tickets for the full Wolfgang Premiere Lounge movie experience are available under “Premiere” on the Cineplex18 website. Each P990 ticket includes a set meal (one dish and a bottled water), which you can select at the Lounge itself.
Once armed with our food, superhero action won out over Ben Affleck, and we entered the cinema for Thunderbolts. As we settled into one of the venue’s plush La-Z-Boy recliners, we were informed that we could avail of butler service at any time during the screening using a call button built directly into our seat’s side table.

While one had no idea what to expect when it came to fine dining in a movie theater, it turned out to be an experience in and of itself; as the house lights dimmed and a stylized version of the signature Marvel fanfare played, it was time to put the Lounge’s offerings to the test. The sandwiches proved to be a good call, providing mouthwatering servings of Wolfgang’s signature beef in a format conducive to eating in the dark. Admittedly, the pasta proved a bit trickier, and it took a few minutes to get used to the clinking of cutlery accompanying the events onscreen.
That being said, the actual screening that accompanied the high-end food was excellent, as the cinema’s laser projector delivered crisp images and vivid colors that made scenes practically jump off the screen, accompanied by full Dolby Digital 7.1 sound. It was a great way to catch a blockbuster and an even better way to kick off the Lounge.

By the time the house lights came up, everyone in attendance was sold on the Wolfgang Premiere Lounge Bar’s elevated cinema experience, and eager to experience more. As we moved back to the lounge from the cinema, the audience only had two questions: what would we watch next, and what mouthwatering meal should accompany it?
