Intramuros among nominees for World's Leading Tourist Attraction at 2024 World Travel Awards
Intramuros, Manila is vying for the “World’s Leading Tourist Attraction” title at the World Travel Awards (WTA) 2024.
On its Facebook page, the Intramuros Administration encouraged the public to vote for the Walled City in the said category. To cast your vote, just go to WTA's official website and click register to create an account. Verify your account through the confirmation message that will be sent to you via email.
When you're done, go back to WTA's website. Find the “region,” select “world,” scroll and click “World’s Leading Tourist Attraction 2024,” and then vote for “Intramuros, Philippines.”
Pinoys have until Sunday, Oct. 20 to cast their votes.
Intramuros is competing against India’s Taj Mahal, Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, Vietnam’s Ha Long Bay, Peru’s Machu Picchu, and the Great Wall of China, among others in the category.
The city previously won Asia’s Leading Tourist Attraction this year and in 2022, 2020, and 2016. It last bagged the World’s Leading Tourist Attraction award in 2020.
The Philippines recently hosted and won big at the Asia & Oceania Gala Ceremony held in Parañaque last September, bagging a total of eight awards including Asia's Leading Beach Destination 2024, Asia's Leading Dive Destination 2024, and Asia's Leading Island Destination 2024.
Established in 1993, the World Travel Awards has been recognizing the excellence of worldwide destinations "across all key sectors of the travel, tourism, and hospitality industries.”
This year’s Grand Final Gala Ceremony will take place in Madeira, Portugal on Nov. 24.
