Starbucks Philippines implements P5 increase on all its beverages

Starbucks Philippines is implementing a P5 increase on all the items in its beverage lineup.

In a statement provided to PhilSTAR L!fe, the coffee brand said that they review their pricing on a regular basis to allow them “to properly balance the experience we provide customers with our need to effectively run the business.”

Despite the price adjustment, Starbucks reiterated its commitment to keep its loyal customers happy through various deals and perks. “We remain committed to providing value to customers in meaningful ways through special promotions and our Starbucks Rewards loyalty program,” the company said.

In August, the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry warned of a possible price hike on certain food and beverages due to the sugar crisis in the country.

The agency, along with the Philippine Food Exporters and the Philippine Exporters Confederation, urged local officials “to immediately look into the crippling sugar that is expected to hurt both the local food processors and manufacturers and the consumers in general.”

They also expressed their support for sugar importation to tackle the current problem. “PCCI President George Barcelon said that they recognize the need to protect the sugar producers and millers, however, they also believe that government should strike a balance and consider expanding import requirement before the situation worsens, which could lead to higher inflation.”
