QC Public Library to bring back free Japanese language classes

Published Jun 07, 2025 3:51 pm

If you've got some spare time, learning a new language can be incredibly rewarding. And let's be honest, how cool would it be to put that knowledge to good use the next time you visit Japan?

Whether you're dreaming of navigating Tokyo or Osaka like a local, diving deeper into the country's fascinating culture, or simply looking to boost your career prospects, learning how to speak and write in Japanese can open a ton of exciting doors. The good news is the Quezon City Public Library is bringing back its free online basic Japanese language class.

This program, launched in 2019 in partnership with Jellyfish Education Philippines, Inc., offers a convenient way to start your Japanese language journey from home.

The next class is set for June 19, 2025, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. via Zoom.

Following this, classes will be held once a month on a Thursday, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., with dates set for July 24, Aug. 14, Sept. 18, Oct. 23, and Nov. 27.

To join, simply register through this link. Be quick, though, as this free online class operates on a first-come, first-served basis, accommodating only the first 500 successful registrants per class.

Once registered, you'll get a confirmation email. Make sure to confirm your attendance via email within 24 hours to secure your spot.

Approved participants will then receive an email with their Zoom credentials.

To be eligible, you must be 18 years old or above and have a laptop, desktop, or smartphone with a stable internet connection and a Zoom account.

For any questions, you can reach out to Rowena G. Garcia, Librarian III and Head of the Reference Section, Readers' Services Division at the Quezon City Public Library, via email at reference.qcpl@quezoncity.gov.ph.

A Digital Certificate of Participation will be sent to your email after you submit a completed evaluation form, for which the link will be provided at the end of the class.
