‘Bridgerton’ star Phoebe Dynevor reveals scene that made her most nervous to film (it wasn’t the honeymoon)

Phoebe Dynevor has been enjoying the spotlight, especially after her role as Daphne Bridgerton in the popular period drama series on Netflix catapulted her into fame.

Recently, the British actress, along with Bridgerton director Julie Anne Robinson, revealed to The Hollywood Reporter behind-the-scenes anecdotes, including Dynevor’s most surprising fan interaction since the show came out.

The eight-episode first season of Shonda Rhimes’ series recently smashed Netflix viewership records and is now considered the streamer’s “biggest series ever.” Even before its success, Robinson had alerted Dynevor about what was to come for her as an actress.

Indeed, a deluge of praise came for the 26-year-old actress, even from reality star Kim Kardashian, a self-confessed fan of the show. “It really was able to hit so many people, and that was quite unexpected for me. I mean, Kim Kardashian DM’ed me a few times,” she told The Hollywood Reporter.

For her part, Robinson revealed that Dynevor was one of the actors she was the proudest of casting in the series. She also shared that she is a huge fan of the actress. “She has this incredible, very modern sensibility, and you just feel this energy and dynamism behind her performance. But she also has the ability to have the glacial kind of look that the Regency era required.”

Both Dynevor and Robinson dished out on the scene that made them most nervous during the first season—the most-talked-about honeymoon episode.

The first season of the series focused on the courtship between Dynevor’s character and Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings played by Rege-Jean Page.

For Dynevor, it was a collaborative experience, which she said was important for the scenes.

“Instead of being just what the director wants, it’s very much like what everyone wants from the scene. And I think that was very much the starting point of ‘OK, what does Julie Anne want to see? What do I feel comfortable with? What story are we telling here?’ And those conversations really helped,” she said.

She added, “From there, were were able to block with our intimacy coordinator and it just made everyone feel safe and feel like they had a say.”

Though the honeymoon sequence may have ben nerve-wracking, Dynevor said it was the emotional conversation scene with her co-star Jonathan Bailey (who plays Anthony Bridgerton) that made her most nervous.

“It was where Daphne talks about what it’s like to be a woman to her brother Anthony and they were riding horses. I knew that it was going to be challenging. It was actually mostly, performance-wise, that I was nervous about,” she shared.

Bridgerton, which is based on bestselling author Julia Quinn’s series of historical romance novels, is set in the lavish and competitive world of London high society during the Regency period of the early 1800s.

The series’ season two, which is currently being filmed in England, will draw from the sequel in Quinn’s romance series, The Viscount Who Loved Me. In April, it was reported that Bridgerton is officially renewed through season 4, which leaves many wanting more of the romantic, scandalous and quick-witted series. (With a report from ANI)
