Daedelic releases trailer for The Lord of the Rings: Gollum
A new teaser trailer for The Lord of the Rings: Gollum has just arrived and from the looks of things, stealth.
The 63-second trailer from German game developer Daedalic Entertainment shows Gollum lurking around the lair of Shelob, the primordial spider. Because Gollum isn’t known for his fighting prowess, the narrative adventure game relies heavily on his cunning and stealth as he makes his way around the hidden nooks of Middle Earth.
A complicated character, Gollum is split between two personas, the loathsome Gollum and pitiable Sméagol. Screenshots of the game were leaked last May, showing how a series of actions and decisions from his two personas will drive the story forward.
Based on this and other clues, the storyline might take place in the same timeframe of The Fellowship of the Ring, the first book of The Lord of the Rings trilogy. This part of the story follows the path of Gollum and a series of events before Frodo and the fellowship found him trailing them in the Mines of Moria.
Back in March 2019, Daedalic struck a deal with Middle Earth Enterprises to develop a game about Gollum, arguably the most conflicted character in J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings epic.
Expect the The Lord of the Rings: Gollum to be released sometime in 2021 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
