BTS’ Suga tests positive for COVID-19 after returning from the US

Min Yoongi, also known as BTS’ Suga, has been diagnosed with COVID-19.

In an official statement from Big Hit Music on fan platform Weverse, Suga tested positive for COVID-19 upon his return to South Korea on Thursday, Dec. 23.

“Suga completed his second round of the COVID-19 vaccination in late August and is not presenting any symptoms as of today. He is currently administering self-care at home per the guidelines of the healthcare authorities,” Big Hit said, which has also been translated by Soompi

According to Big Hit Music, Suga tested negative for COVID-19 before leaving the US but tested positive upon his return to South Korea. The BTS member stayed in the US during the boy group’s official time off due to a “number of personal engagements.”

Suga didn’t have any contact with the other BTS members, as per Big Hit Music. 

“The company places the artists’ health as our top priority, and we will do everything we can to aid Suga in his speedy recovery. We will also diligently cooperate with the requests and guidelines of the healthcare authorities,” the statement read.

Suga debuted as the lead rapper of BTS in 2013.
