‘We ask for fans’ cooperation and understanding’: BLACKPINK to no longer accept fan gifts starting Oct. 12
BLACKPINK announced they will no longer accept fan gifts as of Oct. 12, and requested their devoted fans to express their love “to places where they are more needed.”
In an official statement via Soompi, YG Entertainment said that BLACKPINK will no longer be accepting “any fan support or mailed gifts” to celebrate special occasions. This includes the group’s debut anniversary, solo debut anniversaries, birthdays, special broadcasts, and concerts, among others.
The entertainment agency also revealed the decision was made after BLACKPINK “carefully debated for a long time over the issue of the fan support and gifts that their fans have poured their hearts into.”
“We would be grateful if you would give the gifts and fan support you prepare to convey your love and celebrate these special days to places where they are more needed,” the statement read.
As of Oct. 12, only fan letters will be accepted. Any delivered packages will either be “returned or thrown away.”
“Thanks to the support of their fans, BLACKPINK will continue to pursue an even wider variety of activities in the future, and they will work hard to become even cooler artists. Please continue to give them lots of interest and love,” the statement read.
A popular and debatable topic in the K-pop community, idols are known for receiving expensive presents such as idol-themed subway trains, luxury products, and digital billboards, among others.
BLACKPINK is a four-member group composed of members Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa. The girl group debuted in 2016 with the tracks Whistle and Boombayah.
