The National Museum of the Philippines is now open seven days a week with free admission.

On New Year’s Day, the museum announced on its official Facebook page that the NMP Central Complex and its regional component museums nationwide will now be open every day.

“Universal access has always been our priority. By opening our museums every day and maintaining free admission, we aim to make our programs and services even more accessible to everybody,” it wrote.

Its operating hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The National Museum of the Philippines houses preserved works of art, specimens, and cultural and historical artifacts "representative of the unique cultural heritage of the Filipino people and the natural history of the Philippines."

Just recently, the museum displayed Jose Rizal’s famous Josephine Sleeping sculpture on the 128th Rizal Day on Dec. 30. It secured the piece at an auction at the Leon Gallery for P31.2 million in the same month. His other artworks can be viewed at the Inspiring the Nation, Dr. Jose Rizal: The National Hero in Art exhibit in Gallery V of the National Museum of Fine Arts.
