Saving up for the new iPhone? You might have an idea on how many days you would need to work before you can purchase it.

According to the latest findings of e-commerce company Picodi, an average-earning Pinoy has to work for 68.8 days to be able to afford the iPhone 16 Pro (128 GB), which costs P69,990.

Citing online living database Numbeo, Picodi noted that the average monthly net wage in the Philippines is P21,378.61.

Turkey landed at the end of the list with 72.9 days (from 123.7 in 2023) followed by the Philippines with 68.8 (from 79.5 in 2023) and Brazil with 68.6 (from 66.6 in 2023).

Topping this year’s index is Switzerland with only four days (from 4.2 in 2023), ahead of the United States with 5.1 (from 5.3 in 2023) as well as Australia and Singapore with 5.7 (from 6.3 and 6.7 in 2023, respectively).

The iPhone 2024 index was based on the official prices of the iPhone 16 Pro (128 GB) shared by Apple’s local branches as well as its authorized resellers. The average wages, meanwhile, were taken from official statistics offices. Picodi noted they are “up-to-date as of the release of the iPhone in each country.”

Net wages were obtained through salary calculators. Monthly wages were divided by 21—the average number of working days in a month. In countries, where statistics offices use weekly rates, the wages were divided by 5,” it said.

The iPhone 16 series was unveiled at Apple's "It's Glowtime" event on Sept. 9 (Sept. 10, Philippine time). Like previous iterations, there are four models in the range, including the iPhone 16 (6.1-inch), iPhone 16 Plus (6.7-inch), iPhone 16 Pro (6.3-inch), and iPhone 16 Pro Max (6.9-inch).

The new iPhone line is Apple's first device to be built on its artificial intelligence, Apple Intelligence.

Other significant changes include the bigger display on the Pro versions, the different camera array on the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus, improved cameras, and the new Camera Control button for taking photos. Check out PhilSTAR L!fe's detailed comparison between the iPhone 15 and 16 here.
