Did you know that fans are campaigning for Kristen Stewart to get cast as the Joker in The Batman alongside her ex Robert Pattinson?

While on Variety's Award Circuit podcast, the Spencer actress addressed the clamor for her to play the famous villain.

“I love the energy behind that,” she said about the fan campaigns. "It’s really been done so well. I feel like, maybe, we don’t traipse over, but I love that gusto. Let’s figure something else out. I’m totally down to play a freaky, scary person.”

When asked if her answer is a definitive "no," Stewart replied, "Not 'no,' but not the most stoked I've ever been."

"Let's do something new," she said, shutting down the idea.

In the past, the Joker has been played by Jack Nicholson, Jared Leto, Heath Ledger, and Joaquin Phoenix. The latter two won Academy Awards for their portrayal of the Clown Prince of Crime.

In addition, Star Wars actor Mark Hamill voiced the villain in the animated Batman series. We have yet to see a female Joker portrayed in film or TV since the character's creation.

Pattinson, who plays Bruce Wayne in the upcoming Batman film, and Stewart first met on the set of box office phenomena Twilight. The two became breakout stars following the franchise and dated between 2009 and 2013.

Most recently, Stewart starred in Spencer as Princess Diana, a role she received critical acclaim for.
