LOOK: Mattel releases manananggal doll
Mattel dropped a manananggal doll that separates into two just like the mythical creature.
On its website, the toy company described the new doll called Corazon Marikit as a "feast of Filipino fashion and traditions."
"This manananggal maven is said to be able to separate her top and bottom halves to fly into the night," Mattel said.
"A vision in foil print and fringe, along with beautifully embroidered batwings, Corazon Marikit saunters down a runway of jasmine, leaving her fangs screaming for more," it added.
Priced at $75 (PhP4,304), the doll has a two-part packaging design that lets you "move levers up and down to display her in multiple fearsome poses." The stand lets its upper body to slide up and down, and its lower body to swing and rotate.
In 2024, Mattel released a Filipina Barbie in a corset with large traditional terno sleeves, a malong-inspired skirt, and a pair of bakya with bahay kubo-sculpted heels. Her look was elevated by a radiant crown depicting the Philippine sun, elegant gold janggay jewelry, and some intricate batok tattoos on her arms. It was crafted by Filipino-American designer Carlyle Nuera, a lead designer at Barbie Signature. Take a look at it here.
