Ubisoft reveals ‘Tom Clancy’s XDefiant’

Ubisoft reveals Xdefiant, their newest game under the Tom Clancy label.

The free-to-play first person shooter is developed by Ubisoft San Francisco. According to both executive producer Mark Rubin and creative director Jason Schroeder the game is a “fast-paced firefights meets punk-craft mosh pit.” XDefiant is a high-octane shooter that aims to combine realistic gunplay with personalized classes.

The classes are divided into factions: Wolves who are supposed to be tanks, Cleaners for assault, Echelon as support, and Outcasts as healers. These very factions are familiar to fans since these are inspired by previous Tom Clancy games, like Cleaners and Outcasts from Division; the Wolves from Ghost Recon; and while Echelon is from Splinter Cell.

The game is set to have a 6v6 multiplayer system and will have an arsenal of authentic weapons and attachments to choose from.

Fans seem to be disappointed with Ubisoft’s latest project. With the ‘Worldwide Reveal’ for Tom Clancy’s XDefiant video on YouTube garnering more than 5,300 dislikes, compared to only 3,700 likes with an average of 89,000 views as of this writing.

The game plans to launch an early gameplay test by August 5. Interested fans and players can register through the game’s official website. Sadly, the PC version test seems to be only available for western residents, specifically those who are from the US and Canada. Nevertheless, more tests are coming for different consoles the game is available in.

“Your feedback is essential to help us make this game great,” Schroeder said.

Tom Clancy’s XDdefiant will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC.
