'Game of Thrones' star Iain Glen joins cast of 'Quezon'

Game of Thones star Iain Glen is joining the cast of the upcoming historical biopic Quezon.

Glen, who played Ser Jorah Mormont in the hit HBO series, will portray Leonard Wood, who was appointed governor-general of the Philippines from 1921 to 1927 during the American occupation.

"(Glen) has gravitas," Quezon director and co-writer Jerrold Tarog said in a press release. "But at the same time, he can let loose, which is important for the role of Leonard Wood."

TBA Studios president and COO Daphne O. Chiu, meanwhile, said that Quezon is "shaping up to be one of the biggest productions in Philipine cinema.

"We are excited to share with Iain—and the rest of the world—the production scale and level of artistry that Filipino filmmakers are capable of," she said.

The Scottish actor arrived in Manila on Jan. 30 for a script reading with the rest of the cast.

The historical biopic stars Jericho Rosales as titular character Manuel L. Quezon, who was the president of the Commonwealth of the Philippines from 1935 to 1944.

Joining Rosales in the cast are Mon Confiado as Emilio Aguinaldo, Benjamin Alves as a younger Quezon, Karylle Yuzon as Quezon’s wife Aurora Quezon, Romnick Sarmenta as Sergio Osmeña, JC Santos as Manuel Roxas, and Cris Villanueva as the older Joven Hernando, the only fictional character in the series.

Tarog is known for his Bayaniverse films Heneral Luna and Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral.

Quezon will be released locally and internationally later this year.

Apart from Game of Thrones, Glen is known for his roles in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, The Rig, Silo, Resident Evil movies, and Castlevania: Nocturne.
