Attention, thespians! 'Bongga Ka, 'Day: The Annie Batungbakal Musical!' opens auditions
Dreaming to be part of Bongga Ka 'Day! The Annie Batungbakal Musical?
NWR Musicals announced that the first round of auditions for the upcoming musical is set for May 6.
The production is looking for performers of all genders, aged 18 and above, with a background in acting, singing, and moving well. Previous stage experience is an advantage, but it isn’t required.
Those auditioning for the titular role of Annie—described as looking early 20s, a creative, spirited young woman—must be able to sing alto with pop birit and can dance ballroom show dancing.
For the role of Romer—described as looking late 20s and is "cosmopolitan, flirty, and handsome in a flight attendant way"—must know how to sing pop tenor and can dance ballroom show dancing.
Those who want to play Burn—a mid-20s down-to-earth, folk-rock singer—must be able to sing Baritone/ Tenor 2, with a folk-rock voice. The actor must also know how to play guitar and can move or dance.
Several roles—featured, ensemble, and Coco Banana Denizens—are also open for auditions.

Set in 1980s Manila, the musical centers on an ambitious sales clerk who sneaks into the glamorous disco scene to chase her dream of becoming a fashion designer, but risks losing herself in the process.
Bongga Ka Day: The Annie Batungbakal Musical was first announced in March. The musical will feature songs by the 70s Filipino band Hotdog, including their classic hits like Bongga Ka Day, Annie Batungbakal, Manila, and Ikaw Ang Miss Universe Ng Buhay Ko, among others.
It was originally slated to run in June 2020 but was put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Its cast members included Gab Pangilinan, Anna Luna, and Nicole Omillo alternating in the titular role, as well as Markki Stroem, CJ Navato, Jon Santos, and Lemuel Silvestre.
The show will be co-produced by Viva, The Philippine Star, and Newport World Resorts.
