James Taylor coming to Manila after canceling his concert in 2016

James Taylor is finally set to perform in Manila, marking his return six years after canceling his 2017 concert in the country.

The acclaimed singer-songwriter, known for hits like Your Smiling Face, You’ve Got a Friend, Fire and Rain, and How Sweet It Is, will be joined by his All-Star Band for a live performance at the Mall of Asia Arena on April 8, 2024.

Originally slated for a 2017 performance, Taylor canceled the concert a year prior, citing his opposition to the Duterte administration’s anti-drug campaign.

“I've been eagerly looking forward to playing for my Philippine audience ever since we added Manila to our tour of the Pacific this coming February. So it saddens me to cancel our concert there. I don't think of my music as being particularly political, but sometimes one is called upon to make a political stand,” he said at the time.

Ticket sales will commence on Dec. 8 at noon, with a pre-sale from Dec. 6 at 10 a.m. to Dec. 8 at 5 a.m.
