Have you been itching to download a free mobile game and team up with your friends?

Gamers in the Philippines can now play Honor of Kings, a free-to-play Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) game that boasts over 200 million registered users and more than 100 million daily players enjoying the thrill of team battle.

While the game is nearly a decade old, Heroes of Kings has only been available in China since 2015, and later in Brazil and some parts of the Middle East for its pre-releases in 2023. Developed by TiMi Studio Group and published by Level Infinite for iOS and Android phones, Honor of Kings was launched globally on June 20.

Up for grabs are 85 characters based on mythologies and folklore, classified into five character types: Fighter, Assassin, Mage, Marksman, and Support. These include Arthur, the leader of the Knights of the Round Table (Fighter); Mulan, the fearless commander of the Great Wall (Assassin); Xiao Qiao, a descendant of a famed Anomalic clan (Mage); Erin, an elf princess born in the Luminescent Forest (Marksman); and Zhuangzi, one of the Three Sages of Jixia who can turn dreams into reality (Support).

Skin challenges are also set for its diverse IP collaborations: Fighting game SNK (June 19), Hello Kitty skins for Xiao Qiao and Arli (June 29), Bruce Lee skin for the boxer character Pei (July 4), and popular anime Saint Seiya (July 5 and July 12).

TiMi Studio said that the hundreds of skins currently available will grow over the coming months along with further in-game events that include collaborations with global and regionally relevant brands and celebrities.

Enjoy team battles in the gorge

While it has improved its features, the developer retained the game’s core development tenets. Honor of Heroes is still “free to play, fair to win” where success is not dependent on the player’s spending power but rather his or her skill and effort.

Honor of Heroes also takes pride in its Best-in-Class Matchmaking where players are pitted against those with a similar skill level for everyone’s enjoyment.

TiMi Studio added that the game’s initial download has remained as small as possible for low-end devices and it is constantly adding new device features that improve the overall gaming experience.

Apart from a worldwide server network, Honor of Kings provides support in 14 languages. The Honor of Kings Invitational Season 2 Tournament is also underway on June 29 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, assembling 13 teams from Southeast Asia, Brazil, Türkiye, Middle East and North Africa (MENA), Latin America (LATAM), and Western Europe.
