The Bangtan Boys have consistently shattered records, even beating their own records at times, so it is but fitting that they get a spot in the much-coveted Guinness World Record Hall of Fame.

On Sept. 2, the Guinness World Records announced that the supergroup is included in its Hall of Fame and the upcoming 2022 edition of its eponymous book.

With this, BTS joins other prominent hall of famers, including gymnast Simone Biles, The Simpsons, environment activist Greta Thunberg, Nobel Prize winner Malala Yousafzai, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin.

Among their countless awards in South Korea and international recognition and nominations, BTS have 23 Guinness World Records titles under their belt across music and social media, which were achieved thanks to the group’s loyal fanbase, the ARMY.

Since the group breached international boundaries with their music, they have proven time and time again that they are a global phenomenon.

According to the Guinness World Records, BTS is the most streamed group on Spotify, with 16.3 billion streams as of April 27 2021, and the most followed music group on Instagram with over 48 million followers as of this writing.

The group’s summer anthem Butter, released in May 2021, bagged five records, including most viewers for the premiere of a music video on YouTube (which beat their own record for their smash hit, Dynamite in 2020), most streamed track on Spotify in the first 24 hours, and the most viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours.

Members RM, Suga, J-Hope, Jin, V, Jimin, and Jungkook have set music and social media records in the book, which spans from 2018 to April 2021. Check them out below:

Beyond BTS’ superlatives in their music career, the Guinness World Records also acknowledged the causes that the group are standing up for: self-love, self-acceptance and mental health awareness, citing BTS’ partnership with UNICEF for their Love Myself campaign against children and teen abuse, and how the group speak up about mental health issues in their lyrics and speeches.

“Their positivity and openness towards themes that are often considered taboo kindled even stronger support from their fans—especially via Twitter,” the company said.

“As for their ability to have fun, amaze and communicate through music and dance moves, as well as their dedication for breaking records… that is certainly what marks BTS as the perfect fit for our Hall of Fame 2022!” It added.

The Guinness World Records 2022 book, where BTS’ spread is on pages 212 and 213, is now available for pre-order. Read the supergroup’s Hall of Fame feature on
