WATCH: 'Among Us' is getting a 3D makeover where you can find impostors in first-person
A 3D version of the popular multiplayer game Among Us is coming soon.
Developer Innersloth recently released a teaser for the upcoming game, titled Among Us 3D, which features a first-person perspective gameplay.
In 2022, a virtual reality (VR) version of the game was launched, but players needed a headset for the experience. The upcoming release does away with this as it will be playable across PC and VR platforms.
So far, the look of the game is its biggest departure from the hit title. It will still involve familiar gameplay like tasks, sabotages, Emergency Meetings, and venting, but in a 3D environment.
The new game will feature native proximity voice chat so you can talk to your friends directly in-game without the need for third-party platforms, minigames in first-person controls, and customizable Beansonas.
Players will be able to cross-play with users on VR consoles like Meta Quest, Steam VR, PlayStation VR 2, and PICO. However, you can't play with those on the original 2D version.
Innersloth has yet to announce when the game will launch, but a demo version is currently available on Steam as part of its Next Fest, which runs until Mar. 3.
In 2023, Variety reported that an Among Us animated series was in the works at CBS Studios. A year later, it announced cast members Randall Park, Yvette Nicole Brown, Elijah Wood, and Ashley Johnson.
Among Us is an online multiplayer game wherein four to 15 players are on board a spaceship. The Crewmates must work together to complete tasks while identifying the Impostor, who's killing other players.
The game was first released in 2018 but rose to popularity during the COVID-19 lockdowns.
