Julia Barretto and Aga Muhlach are teaming up in an upcoming film for the first time.

Directed by Denise O'Hara, Forgetting Canseco follows Jasmine Rodriguez (played by Julia Barretto), an independent and outspoken woman who joins an internationally renowned chorale with Michael Capistrano (played by Aga Muhlach) as their conductor.

According to O'Hara, the project would serve as their "love letter" and tribute to Filipino composer George Canseco.

"Most of the dramatic movies in the past, may signature music ni George Canseco. We want to introduce him to the new generation who no longer hears his music nowadays na mostly nasa karaoke na lang. We are using rearranged versions of Canseco music. We are excited about that."

“The narrative of a Canseco song is really meant for lovers, it makes you feel in love again. Actually, he’s also my personal favorite,” she added.

Aga expressed his excitement about working with Julia in a recently concluded press conference for the film. "I’m really nervous and excited because it’s my first time to work with Julia. When this movie was offered to me, sabi ni Julia, ‘Wow.’ As an actor, it is a blessing to be able to work and experience an actress like Julia at this point and time in my life," said the multi-awarded talent.

“I will play my age and she will play her age in the story," he shared.

Julia, for her part, revealed it has always been her dream to work with Aga. “Actually, nung look test, kailangan ko pang magpasend ng photo natin. Sinend ko 'yun agad kina Mommy,” the young actress said.

"I’m deeply honored and really grateful to be a part of this. I meant it when I said I’m excited but really nervous. I’m working with the original heartthrob and the legend," she continued.

Forgetting Canseco will start production in Baguio this month. Further details, including its release date, are yet to be announced.
