What if your glasses could do more than just correct your vision or block the sun? Sweet, right? Google is ushering in a new era where your eyewear becomes a discreet AI companion, thanks to its partnership with brands like Gentle Monster and Warby Parker.

The latest collaboration, which was recently unveiled at the Google I/O conference in California, showcases Android XR technology that powers everyday lifestyle items like headsets and stylish eyeglasses you'll want to wear.

"Creativity and sophistication are essential design features for technology to integrate into everyday life," Shahram Izadi, General Manager and Vice President of Google XR, said in the statement.

"Gentle Monster as a first partner in the development of AI smart eyewear with Android XR was also highlighted as a pivotal step in the evolution of AI smart eyewear into essential, lifestyle fashion items," he added.

More details have yet to be unveiled, but according to Google, these glasses are equipped with a camera, microphones, and speakers, which you can sync with the apps on your phone. With the AI assistant Gemini, you can now use maps, take photos on the spot, talk with friends online, and more while you're strolling the streets or having fun with friends, without the hassle of having to reach for your phone.

Per the recent demo, Google said that the technology also has the potential to help you converse with someone in a different language, giving you live translated subtitles through the glasses in the real world.
