Meet the Mini Evo Cinema (and where to get one!)

Published Jan 30, 2026 9:46 pm

Digital cameras are making a comeback, and today’s generation is embracing that nostalgic feeling in both videos and photos. While these "vintage" digicams are flying off thrift store shelves, brands are leaning into the hype with new releases like the Kodak Charmera, the Escura SnapRoll, and the brand-new Instax Mini Evo Cinema Camera.

This hybrid camera lets you capture photos, short videos, and print instantly through your smartphone.

Inspired by 1960s Super 8 cameras, the Instax Mini Evo Cinema Camera has a vertical grip, analog-style controls, and a tactile print lever that offer a shooting experience that's both nostalgic and modern. This compact camera features a 1.54" LCD & viewfinder attachment, built-In Flash and continuous LED light, as well as a selfie mirror & self-timer.

This also allows you to shoot content set in different eras, from 1930 to 1960 to 2010 and 2020, without relying on any photo editing app.

Here's more to know about the gadget:

Features

The mini Evo Cinema handles both still images and short videos. To use, simply press the shutter button. You can easily switch to STILL for photos and CINE for short videos.

Videos can be recorded for up to 15 seconds. After filming, it will be converted into a QR code and printed as an Instax 2 x 3” still image pulled from the footage. You can use the QR code anytime to instantly replay the video.

One of its standout features is the new Eras Dial, which lets you shoot with filters inspired by different time periods. There are 10 era styles to choose from—including the camera qualities of 1930, 2010, and the “1960” look modeled after classic 8mm film cameras. Each style has 10 adjustable levels, giving your outputs a distinct quality and vibe.

You can also edit videos by stitching clips together and adding cinematic opening and ending templates through a dedicated app. For photos, there's the Direct Print Function that instantly turns photos from your smartphone into Instax prints. There are also Bluetooth and Wi-Fi features, so sharing these materials is easy.

We've all experienced moments so perfect that we wish we could replay them. But sometimes, setting everything up or feeling shy about using a camera gets in the way. This camera’s compact design makes it easy to capture those moments intentionally. It also features a vertical grip inspired by Fujifilm’s iconic FUJICA Single-8 camera from 1965, with a microSD card slot for more storage.
