Art by the Bay, a yearly event that used to gather creatives and art enthusiasts at the Folk Arts Theater grounds, has transitioned their workshops and raffles online.
From Nov. 7 to 14, Art by the Bay will be running online workshops on printmaking and art. The first day featured their official online launch and a digital walkthrough of the Association of Pinoyprintmakers' (AP) studio.
The ongoing event, organized by AP in collaboration with the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) aims to bring people together once again to enjoy art and camaraderie even through a virtual space.
With the theme of "reconnection and healing," Art by the Bay online aims to help people use art to reconnect with their loved ones and communally hope for healing from the current situation.
The online platform will also allow Art by the Bay attendees to continue to participate in this yearly anticipated event, while giving artists the opportunity to sustain their increasingly precarious practice by selling some of their artworks.
The event is hosting several virtual workshops, specifically on monotype printing, block printing on fabric, and paper cutting and rubbing to be spearheaded by local artists who specialize in each craft.
The event’s final day on Satruday (Nov. 14) will be capped with Art by the Bay’s yearly print raffle and the presentation of their “25@45 Print Folio.” This special project for the CCP’s 45th anniversary includes a collection of rare and valuable prints by 25 leading artists and works by National Artists Benedicto Cabrera (BenCab) and Arturo Luz.
