Andrew Garfield denies (again) he's in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’
Former web-slinger Andrew Garfield has denied once again his involvement in the highly-anticipated film Spider-Man: No Way Home.
When asked about the leaks and rumors surrounding the Tom Holland-led Spider-Man movie during an interview with Variety, Garfield said that he understands "why people are freaking out about the concept" because he's also a fan of the franchise.
"You can’t help but imagine scenes and moments of ‘Oh, my God, how f--king cool would it be if they did that?’” Garfield said. "But it’s important for me to say on the record that this is not something I’m aware I am involved in. But I know I’m not going to be able to say anything that will convince anyone that I don’t know what’s happening. No matter what I say, I’m f--ked. It’s either going to be really disappointing for people or it’s going to be really exciting."
Garfield previously denied rumors about the upcoming Spider-Man movie, saying that he didn't get a call to reprise his role as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
"Listen, I can't speak for anything else but for myself. They might be doing something but I ain't got a call," he said.
Rumors that Garfield and Tobey Maguire would be returning in the next Marvel superhero movie made headlines late last year following confirmation that Alfred Molina and Jamie Foxx are set to reprise their respective roles as Doctor Octopus and Electro. Some rumors also claimed that Kirsten Dunst and Emma Stone are also involved in the upcoming project, along with Charlie Cox's Daredevil.
Meanwhile, Garfield during the interview also shared his thoughts on his stint as the web-crawler, which ended after two films: 2012's The Amazing Spider-Man and 2014's The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
“It was only beautiful. I got to meet Emma [Stone] and work with her and Sally Field. I had karma with Amy Pascal, who was a mother figure, and we would fight, but ultimately, we loved each other on a deep level. We tried to meet as much in the middle as we could in terms of why I wanted to do this role, and what her needs were as the head of the studio,” Garfield said.
The cast of Spider-Man: No Way Home includes Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, Tony Revolori, and Jacob Batalon. Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sorcerer Supreme will also be joining John Watt's superhero movie to serve as a new mentor to Holland’s Peter Parker in lieu of Tony Stark.
Spider-Man: No Way Home is slated for release on Dec. 17, 2021.
