WATCH: Xian Lim, Iris Lee's horror film 'Kuman Thong' drops official trailer

Viva Films has dropped the official trailer of Kuman Thong, the horror film helmed by Xian Lim and produced by his girlfriend Iris Lee.

The trailer starts off with a happy tone as a mother, portrayed by Cindy Miranda, spends some quality time with her son and daughter and makes a promise that they'll be together forever. Things quickly turn dark, however, when her son appears to get into an accident and dies.

Overwhelmed and distraught, she then turns to the Thai occult tradition of kuman thong, which is a household divinity that holds the trapped spirit of an unborn child.

This soon proves deadly as the trailer shows the mother and daughter being haunted by the sinister spirit of their deceased family member.

Joining Miranda in the film are Althea Ruedas, Max Nattapol, Jariya Therakaosal, and Emman Esquivel.

Kuman Thong is directed by Xian, serving as his third directorial film after 2019's psychological thriller Tabon and 2023's fantasy comedy Hello, Universe. He also directed an episode of GMA Network’s Wish Ko Lang in 2022.

Iris meanwhile serves as producer and co-writer of the project, which was shot entirely in Thailand.

Xian officially confirmed his romance with Iris in May after sparking dating rumors in December 2023.

“Just to clear everything, to clear all the speculations. We are seeing each other and we are very happy,” he said in his interview on Esquire Philippines’ May 2024 cover story, adding that Iris is his producer and creative partner.

He also clarified that they started dating after his split with Kim Chiu—whom he was with for almost 12 years—refuting rumors that a third party was involved in the cause of his split with the latter.

Kuman Thong premieres in local cinemas on July 3.
