A sequel to The Batman starring Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader has been confirmed.

Warner Bros. chairman Toby Emmerich announced the follow up at CinemaCon 2022 Monday night (April 26 local time).

“Matt took one of our most iconic and beloved superheroes and delivered a fresh vision,” Warner Bros. movie chief Toby Emmerich revealed at CinemaCon. “Matt Reeves, Rob Pattinson and the entire team will be taking audiences back to Gotham with The Batman 2.”

“Thank you all for your tremendous support for The Batman. We couldn’t have gotten here without the faith and enthusiasm of all your teams around the world. I’m excited to jump back into this world for the next chapter,” said Matt Reeves during the #CinemaCon event.

No release date for the sequel has been announced.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, no plot or additional casting details have been revealed about the Batman sequel, other than the fact that Pattinson will be returning as reclusive billionaire Bruce Wayne. Zoë Kravitz, who plays Catwoman in The Batman, wasn't named specifically today, but Emmerich implied she'll be returning for the sequel as well.

The Batman, released in early March of this year, went on to be a huge critical and box office success. Thus far, it is the highest-grossing film of 2022, with a total worldwide take of $759 million.

The superhero flick has also been a smash hit on the streaming service HBO Max. On its first week on the streamer, The Batman surpassed Dune, The Matrix Resurrections and other DC movies in terms of viewership. A spin-off series for Colin Farrell’s character The Penguin was recently announced.

It’s good to know that audiences will get more of Pattinson back as the Dark Knight, with Reeves returning to direct.

The Batman is still showing in select local theaters and is currently streaming on HBO GO in the Philippines.
