WATCH: 'Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One)' drops first look
The much-awaited sequel of the Academy Award-winning Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is out!
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) is “an epic adventure that will transport Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man across the Multiverse to join forces with Gwen Stacy and a new team of Spider-People to face off with a villain more powerful than anything they have ever encountered,” the synopsis reads.
Being dubbed as “Part One” also signals that a third movie is in the offing.
The two-minute Across the Spider-Verse first look picks up where the first installment left off: A Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) already in college chilling in his bed and soundtripping Post Malone and Swae Lee’s “Sunflower.” He, then, hears the voice of Gwen (Hailee Steinfeld) from a different dimension.
Gwen, now with pink highlights, appears from a portal and catches up with the “grounded” Miles. She eggs him on to go out with her for an adventure.
Miles, then, gets funneled through the Multiverse. As he explores the terra incognita, a new yet familiar face, i.e., Miguel O’Hara a.k.a. Spider-Man 2099 (Oscar Isaac) pops out of a portal and attacks him.
Miguel was introduced in the 2018 film’s post-credits scene, where he prepares for a journey across the Multiverse.
Another Spidey movie, Spider-Man: No Way Home of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is also highlighting the concept of the Multiverse. It will hit the U.S. and the U.K. theaters on Dec. 17. The Philippines, meanwhile, will have a Jan. 8, 2022, release date.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) is directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson. It will be exclusively in cinemas on Oct. 7, 2022.
