More Filipino representation in Hollywood coming your way! Jo Koy is set to bring his classic Filipino humor in an upcoming ABC comedy, Josep.
The 30-minute sitcom will follow the life of a hardworking Filipino-American nurse, Josep, who tries "to navigate dating, fatherhood, and the hilarious complications caused by his strong-willed Filipino mother moving in with him." Koy, whose full name is Joseph Glenn Herbert, will star in his eponymous show, and will also executive produce.
Koy shared the news on social media saying, "So excited to show you all what we’re working on over at @ABCNetwork."
Josep is written and executive produced by showrunner Steve Joe, together with Michael Golamco and Randall Park for their production banner Imminent Collision. Hieu Ho and Joe Meloche are executive producing as well as ABC's Fresh Off The Boat's—the first Asian-American family comedy in 21 years—Jake Kasdan and Melvin Mar.
Jo Koy is known for stand-up comic jokes, who also pays homage to the Filipino culture. He has three Netflix specials including Jo Koy: Live From Seattle, Jo Koy: Comin' In Hot, and Jo Koy: In His Elements.
