Faith, hallyu, and COVID-19 topped Pinoy's Facebook engagement activity in March, says study
The top three topics in Facebook that Filipinos most engaged with in March, when coronavirus cases started to surge anew, were faith, the Korean wave hallyu, and COVID-19 according to a recent study.
Consultancy firm BluePrint.PH made an assessment of Facebook posts, shares, and comments with a reported total of 115,742 engagement score from the daily monitoring of 50 keywords for March grouped into 10 categories.
The top category was Faith as most Filipinos used the platform to express their Catholic Faith with the most keywords used being “Quiapochurch,” “holyweek,” and “500yearsofChristianity.” The study found that the top influencer in this category was the Quiapo Church account, which had 3.6 million followers and actively posts live online masses daily.
The second category was Hallyu or the Korean wave as posts within this category accounted for an over 21 million engagement score. The top keywords in this category were “Rose” and “#ReleasedonYT,” after Rose released a solo debut album with the single “On the Ground” posted on YouTube. Other top keywords were “Lisa” (of Blackpink), “BTS,” and “Jungkook” (of BTS).
The third top category was COVID-19 represented by the keywords “coronavirus,” “COVID-19,” and “COVIDPH.”
“The resurgence of the number of cases of COVID-19 remains to be one of the hottest topics in social media. This is the only category without any other keyword associated with and is ranked 1 in the daily trending 16 days out of 31 days,” BluePrintPH said.
