Tinawagan nila 'yung telepono nung tropa nila. Nagulat sila at nanay nung tropa nila 'yung sumagot at umiiyak.
Sumagot 'yung nanay habang umiiyak.
I Saw a Sign 2 Days Before It Happened to Me

It happened to me last Dec. 29, 2020 around 10 in the morning.
Two days after, New Year's Eve, namatay 'yung boyfriend ko sa vehicular accident. 'Di ako makapaniwala sa mga nangyari sa akin that time kasi sabay ko pa siya sumalubong ng bagong taon. In just 10 mins after our celebration, he died.
During his wake, he always visited me in my dreams. Before his burial, nalaman ko kung bakit ganun siya humingi ng tawad sa akin sa dreams ko and I forgave him for his peace. Even in my heart, there's still pain and a lot of questions but inilibing ko na lang sa limot.
It's been almost three years, but the memories of us still remain in my heart.

Phone Call

On the death anniversary of my tita, tumawag lola namin, pero it was just very eerie audio of a woman crying and no one responding. Even when we tried talking to it, she just kept crying.
And the thing is, my cousin was with my lola that very moment and told us that no one was using her phone and that she was completely fine.
We went on a video call with her just to confirm this. No one was indeed using her phone.
Our tita and her boyfriend died when they were young. They were asphyxiated because of a gas leak. It even made headlines because they were overseas at that time.
We have footage of this call and to this day, it gives me chills. It also makes me think a lot about the afterlife and if there even is one. Or maybe it was an interaction through a parallel universe that science can't explain? The world is weird.
The Abandoned Hospital Incident

Back in 2006, I worked as the executive assistant for a Cabinet Secretary whose office oversees the construction of SCTEx. Part of my job was to facilitate presscons as well as assist media people who visit the area, among other things.
Three individuals were part of the crew that came: One reporter named Winnie, her cameraman, and one driver. While I was touring them around the site, the cameraman recognized me dahil sa Halloween episode of MGB that aired just two weeks before their visit. The incidents that happened to me in that episode piqued their interest and they started asking me about the paranormal including the backstories.
Ako naman indulged them so kwento lang ako nang kwento sa kanila. As we were on our way back para samahan sila sa billeting nila for the night, the cameraman whose name I can no longer remember said, "Pwede ba tayo pumasyal sa Abandoned Hospital?" I laughed and told them na "Sorry, pero ayoko nang bumalik doon."
We got to their hotel and, after they brought their personal items into the room, I invited them for dinner and a few drinks.
"Tsong! Sige na. One time lang!
This time, siguro dahil medyo nakarami na rin mojito si Winnie, she chimed in and insisted that we pass by the infamous place before we all turn in. So, since silang lahat na ang nangungulit and, rather than be called KJ, I relented and sinamahan ko sila on the condition na hindi na kami papasok.
By this time, it was almost 1 a.m. There was a slight drizzle and malamig na ang simoy ng hangin. It was extra chilly too since November na 'yun and Clark, if you don't know, is within a mountainous area, with Mt. Pinatubo just 10 kilometers away.
Malapit lang ang Abandoned Hospital from our hotel—I'd say minus the stop lights, about a 3-minute drive away. I just felt something wasn't right. Maybe because I really didn't want to be there in the first place but something was just off. The three were silent and very observant sa dinadaanan namin. The hospital had a long pathway with an island separating it. So one lane each lang for ingress and egress with no room to make a 3-point turn. At the end was a cul de sac with another circular island in the middle.
We drove slowly towards the main lobby... but before we even arrived sa cul de sac, a very big tree branch fell sa harap ng L-200 pickup truck namin.
Winnie shouted, "Sh*t!" while I told the driver, "Atras mo! Atras mo!"
As the driver shifted the gear to reverse, the rain started to fall then another big branch fell sa likuran namin! We were trapped!
Nagkasigawan na sa loob ng pickup truck. But in the middle of the chaos and the pitter-patter of the rain, we all heard what seemed to be like an eerie giggle that went on and on.
The cameraman was now frantic. He knew this was not a mere accident. Sinasadya na 'di kami makaalis.
He shouted at the driver, "P******na! Isampa mo na 'yan sa sanga! Dalian mo! Mayayari tayo dito!" Winnie, who was seated beside me sa backseat, was in hysterics as she dove her head behind my back.
The driver revved the pickup and plowed it over the big tree branch. I heard a loud clang as he was flooring the accelerator pedal. Apparently, the branch was caught underneath the truck.
Hinataw niya 'yung pickup paikot sa cul de sac until we heard a piece of metal break off from underneath as the big branch broke free and whatever broke off began to drag. The driver kept at it hanggang makalabas na kami sa lugar na 'yun. We turned left and parked at a restaurant, which was nearby to check on the damage as well as to calm our nerves over hot coffee.
Everyone was silent as if trying to make sense of what just happened to us... until the cameraman said, "Dapat nakinig na lang kami sa'yo."
We went back to the hotel. I was supposed to go back home but after what happened, I decided to get myself a room and spend the night at the same hotel instead.

I moved out back in November 2022 for very personal reasons, and my departure from the family home was not exactly smooth-sailing. My parents are very protective, and my moving out (at 28, mind you) felt a lot like my first act of full-blown defiance. This is why when Mama told me that there was something weird about my condo, I chalked it up to her refusal to let me go off on my own.
I scored a great deal at a condo strategically located in the city, and the landlord was so kind. I really felt like the unit was for me. When I stepped inside for the first time, the unit felt like it liked me, too. Everything was great at the beginning! I was getting used to being alone and enjoying every minute of solitude.
About a month later though, I started getting sick. It would be something mild like cough and colds, but that didn't make sense because I don't get sick. I've run myself to the ground the previous years but not once have I fallen ill like that, mildly but frequently. Sometimes I would wake up with a slight fever, and wouldn't be able to move until later in the afternoon. I tried to eat better and drink a lot of vitamins, but I would still feel so weak and fatigued.
Then the noises in the hallway started.
I have a very erratic work schedule since I have one main job and a couple of side hustles. I do freelance after my 8-5 job, and sometimes I'd work well past midnight. I would be too focused on what I was doing and tune everything else out.
I started hearing meowing sounds in the hallway. At first, I thought it was just a neighbor cat making her rounds. Why take a leisurely pet walk at 3 a.m., I didn't know. There was one problem, though: I had only one neighbor and he lived at the other end of the hallway. He also owned a fluffy white Samoyed, not a cat.
I didn't pay it any mind. I thought, perhaps it was a stray.
It was only after a few nights of meowing at the same time around 2-3 a.m. that it occurred to me: I was living on a very, very high floor. 44th, to be exact. There's absolutely no way strays could make their way up that high.
But there was no point in getting scared. I was safe inside my double-locked unit anyway.
The meowing was eventually replaced with knocking on the walls.
I would wake up needing to pee and while sitting on the toilet, I'd hear knocking in intentional staccato—three in succession, pause, three in succession, pause—somewhere behind my head while I did my business. Again, I ignored it thinking it might just be the cement walls settling. I didn't know if that was a thing, but it made sense to a girl living alone on a mostly deserted floor, functioning half-asleep every time it happened (a few more times after the first), and not paying much attention.
I was taking the trash out to the chute one afternoon when I noticed what was right behind my bathroom wall: It was the fire exit. What I thought to be walls settling could have been actual knocking by someone at the fire exit, beckoning at the wee hours of the morning.
Still, I ignored it. Next came the knocking on my window.
I was reading on my Kindle with my back against my headboard when I heard the same knocking pattern, but this time, against glass. I knew I had a window right behind my bed, so it made sense that I heard it so close. It was late, probably 3-4 a.m., so again I was absent-minded and attributed it to walls settling.
The next morning when I woke up, it occurred to me that I did not have a balcony, nor can my window be accessed from the outside by anyone. My window was on the 44th floor with nothing above, below, or beside it.
The only way for someone to knock on my window was if that someone was flying.
For purposes of survival, I once again ignored this. Up until that point, I was deriving my bravery from the fact that nothing has happened inside my unit. Everything so far seemed to be happening outside of it.
But of course, the story doesn't end there, because another incident occurred.
I was once again working until very late into the night, and I was so tired I began to nod off while waiting for a webpage to load on my laptop. Just as my eyes started to close, I heard an audible breath sound next to my right ear. I could not have mistaken it, because the sound of someone breathing next to your ear is very distinct. It jolted me awake, and this was when I felt genuinely afraid. I had my aircon on at the other end of the room, and my electric fan was unplugged. There was absolutely no rationalizing that breath sound.
As if that wasn't enough, when I stood up to open all of the lights, I saw two very apparent handprints on the left side of my floor-to-ceiling mirror.
Two. Adult-sized. Handprints.
I'm a huge neat freak and would obsessively clean that mirror because it was a nice place to take selfies. I was certain that those handprints couldn't have been mine, and I sure as hell knew that those weren't there the day before.
That urged me to finally ask the owner whether the unit was blessed and it turns out, it wasn't. I couldn't schedule a blessing due to the unavailability of priests in the nearby church, so Mama gave me a bottle of Holy Water and instructed me to sprinkle it around the unit while praying the Apostle's Creed. Thankfully, no new incidents have occurred since I did that.
Here's to hoping nothing else will, because I just might cut my lease short.
