Netflix officially revealed the trailer of The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, the animated prequel to their live-action series during the recently concluded WitcherCon.
The Witcher’s Youtube channel also showed a first look at Vesemir, the mentor of Geralt and the oldest witcher from the school of the wolf at Kaer Morhen.
The prequel will take place several years before the live-action Witcher series and the Witcher games and will follow Vesemir during his younger years as a monster slayer and a fencing instructor.
“Before Geralt, there was Vesemir—a cocky young witcher who delights in slaying monsters for coin. When a dangerous new power rises on the Continent, Vesemir learns that some witchering jobs are about more than just money…”
Studio Mir will be responsible for the animation of the movie with Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, the showrunner of the Witcher live-action show serving as the producer of the prequel.
The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf is not the only spin-off fans should look forward to, as The Witcher: Blood Origin will also be released on the streaming platform.
The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf will premiere on August 23 on Netflix.
