‘What is that commercial?’: Ellen DeGeneres gets confused by viral RC Cola ad
If you were confused the first time you saw RC Cola’s now viral commercial last year, then you’re not alone. No less than TV host Ellen DeGeneres got confused by it, too.
The viral RC Cola—the one that features a mother with a soda bottle for a head and her son with glass attached on his back—was featured in the “What’s Going to Happen Next in This Commercial” segment of the US talk show “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” A clip of the segment was uploaded on the show’s YouTube Channel on Saturday, January 23.
The segment features Ellen and DJ Twitch trying to predict what happens next in various ads. The two are given three options to choose from.
Ellen and DJ Twitch predicted that the mother in the RC Cola ad will take off her scarf “and parachutes out the window.”
Of course, those familiar with the ad knows what happens next is much more absurd.
“I mean, what is that commercial? What is it for? Do we know,” Ellen says before the correct answer is revealed.
“I was wondering how they were gonna drink it, and that’s how,” Ellen quipped after being shown the rest of the ad.
She further joked: “God, well if you haven’t started drinking already, then now is the time.”
The ad, which was first released in November last year, garnered over seven million views online after just a week of its release. It also spawned a follow-up ad.
