Where to stream ‘Cleaners,’ the celebrated PH indie film made out of 30,000 photocopies

Celebrated stop-motion indie film Cleaners is set to make its streaming debut this September.

The Glenn Barit-helmed film was a crowd favorite when it made its first screening at the QCinema in 2019. Now, it's set for an online premiere on local streaming platforms KTX.ph and Upstream.

Unlike regular streaming sites, KTX and Upstream will release Cleaners for only a few nights starting on Sept. 18, with “ticket sales” going for P199 per individual. Tickets are available now for advanced booking on both sites.

Meanwhile, it will also be available on the genre and cult film site Spamflix at a later date.

The coming-of-age film follows a group of high schoolers in Tuguegarao City in 2007 as they navigate what it means to grow up and be perceived as "clean" in an already superficial world. The film itself is a feat in being comprised of over 30,000 black and white photocopies, a homage to high school projects made from the same materials.

It serves as Barit's full-length feature debut.

Cleaners has grown a steady following after bagging six awards including Best Picture and Best Director at the 2020 Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino. It also screened in the Busan International Film Festival in September 2020.
