LIST: Art classes you can sign up for this summer

Looking for a new hobby or want to explore the limitless world of art?  

Art comes in different forms and can be expressed in different ways such as drawing, painting, crafting, making music, grooving into the different forms of dance, and so much more.  

More than a form of expression, it can also bridge people, connect individuals to a community, and serve as a form of escapism and stress release.

This summer, why not immerse yourself in creative explorations? PhilSTAR L!fe has you covered with a list of art classes that you could sign up for in the coming months.

Art Smart Manila

No matter how old you are, Art Smart Manila has lessons for both kids and adults teaching painting, drawing, and crafts. Classes are done face-to-face and online via Zoom and Messenger.  

From April to May, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Wednesdays and Fridays, you could avail of their face-to-face painting classes for children and adults aged 6-70 years old for P8,500 including eight sessions per module. Meanwhile, drawing classes cost P6,000 inclusive of materials.  

On Saturdays, you can sign up for acrylic painting classes for P8,500 for eight sessions including the materials you will need for the class.   

Drawing & Coloring, and Drawing & Shading classes are also available on Saturdays for P6,000 for eight sessions. 

Online classes, on the other hand, are conducted per group via Zoom. These sessions for children aged 3 and a half to 5 cost P6,500 including materials.  

Meanwhile, Draw and Color classes for children aged 6 to 8 cost P5,500 for eight sessions

Looking for art classes in BGC? Ivory Art Studio offers painting classes for kids clustered according to age groups. 

Beginner art for 2- to 4-year-olds starts at P22,800, Aesthetic Awareness for 4- to 6-year-olds starts at P24,800, Perceptual Creation for 7- to 9-year-old starts at P26,800; and Visual Design for 10- to 15-year-olds starts at P28,800.  

Adults who want to start a journey in exploring art can also enroll in beginner classes starting from P3,200 for two hours per session valid for one week.  

Sessions packages are also available – P10,200 for four sessions, two hours per session with four weeks validity. P29,400 for 12 sessions, two hours per session with 15 weeks validity. Private sessions are also available for P47,988 with 15 weeks validity.

Mess We Made Manila

Want to create your own cute Korean pastel-colored ceramic wares? You don’t have to travel far to South Korea to do that as Mess We Made Seoul opened a shop here in Manila!  

At this studio, you can create and decorate your own ceramic plates, mugs, and other ceramic figures and color and style them any way you want.

Rates per class depend on the number of ceramic wares you aim to create. An hour class costs P2,500 for one plate and one cup individually.  

A two-hour class starts from P3,300 and you can make either one plate and a saucer or a cup and a saucer. At P4,000 you can create a plate, a bowl, and a saucer. Meanwhile, a class for a vase or a ceramic cake costs P4,000.

Craft Manila is a maker space that explores a wide range of crafting and workshops. People from different ages and generations are welcome to participate, learn, and explore creativity through crafting.  

Every month they prepare a lineup of crafting activities for you to discover and explore.  

For April, they have prepared basic jewelry making, basic pottery, weaving, candle making, screen printing, and more.

Sunshine Place offers a multiplicity of activities and classes from crafting, tap dancing, memoir writing, learning different languages, music therapy, flower arranging activities, and even exploring the sphere of fitness including Tai Chi and yoga.

Their programs are open to people of all ages, including kids and adults in addition to senior citizens.

For beginners, there's a One Day Wheel Throwing Crash Course which costs P4,400 for a three-hour session.  

After trying a single session and eager to learn more about pottery, for P10,600 you can avail of their Three-day Full Course Workshop and explore your potential in pottery making and decorating

A single session of Mug Making and Painting workshop, priced at P2,900, is an ideal start if you are down to explore the world of pottery and decorating your own works. A painting session alone costs P1,500.  

A studio use pass, costing P800, gives you unlimited use of the studio and equipment.

Coffee Academy Manila offers you courses to enhance your potential in the art of coffee making.  

For P4,000 you can acquire Basic Barista Training, a one-day session in which you can learn basic skills such as understanding taste notes, grinding coffee beans, and basic latte art.  

Training includes a certificate of completion, training manuals, lunch, and after-training support.  

The Coffee Academy also offers a 2-day Latte Art Workshop, costing P9,500, in which you could be familiarized with texturing skills and basic use of espresso machines.
