Seeing someone play the piano at a mall is something you may see often, but seeing someone sing along to the pianist is a rare sight.
On July 8, Josephine Aton was caught on camera belting her heart out to Whitney Houston's Didn't We Almost Have It All and the video has since gone viral with over 6.7 million views as of writing.
"Yung napadaan lang si ate at napasabay sa piano," captioned Anthony Vargas Ramos, who uploaded the clip on social media. "Bigla umalis si ate after niya kumanta," he added.
Aton, who is originally from Cebu, was actually at Alabang Town Center to buy glasses for her husband. She actually didn't know that someone was taking a video of her singing.
"Nakakagulat talaga kasi never pa ako nag-viral," she said in an interview with Kada Umaga. "Inutusan lang ako ng asawa kong bumili ng salamin, naghanap ako ng waffle para kumain, tapos ayun. Nakakita ako ng nag-pi-piano."
The Cebuana has competed in different singing competitions before, including Pilipinas Got Talent. She began to sing on stage because of her daughter who wanted to be like Hannah Montana.
"Aksidente rin ako nakasali. Kasi before, yung anak ko gusto maging tulad ni Hannah Montana. Sabi niya 'Mama may audition' tapos alas dose na ayaw parin niya kumanta pero ayaw parin niya umuwi. Ang nangyari, sabi niya, ‘I will not sing if you will not sing before me.’ So kumanta ako," she shared.

Beyond joining local talent competitions, Aton hopes to join international ones like Britain's and America's Got Talent.
