Is elusive graffiti artist Banksy set to leave his mark in the Philippines?

The Metropolitan Museum of Manila posted teasers on its social media pages of an upcoming event titled "Banksy Universe."

"Spraying soon. 'Art is not a crime,'" the caption read, which also included the hashtags #BanksyUniverse and #BanksyUniversePH.

Other details such as when the event will be happening have yet to be revealed.

ICYDK, Banksy is a renowned Bristol-based artist, whose identity, remains unknown. But what people do know of him is his "anti-authoritarian art" sprayed in public spaces like the famous Girl with Balloon, which was shredded halfway during an auction and later titled Love is in the Bin.

According to the artist's agency Pest Control Office, he is not involved or associated with exhibits of his work in different countries. He also currently doesn't have any artwork for sale and isn't represented by galleries or institutions.

Banksy's website also indicates that his works aren't allowed to be licensed for commercial use unless it's granted by Pest Control Office.

"I wrote 'copyright is for losers' in my (copyrighted) book and still encourage anybody to take and amend my art for their own personal amusement, but not for profit or making it look like I've endorsed something when I haven't," his licensing page reads.
