Henry Cavill's successor for 'Superman: Legacy' has been found, and he looks just like him

Henry Cavill's successor for the role of Superman has finally been found, and he almost seems to be his splitting image.

According to news reports, Warner Bros. and DC Studios have found their new Clark Kent in actor David Corenswet after months of auditions and in-person screen tests. Along with Corenswet, the studios have also casted Rachel Brosnahan as the hero's love interest Lois Lane.

The two are set to appear in the upcoming Superman: Legacy film, which will focus on the titular character’s "life as a cub reporter in the fictional city of Metropolis," as per Variety

Superman and Lois were previously portrayed by Cavill and Amy Adams respectively. However, Cavill, who had been portraying the Man of Steel since 2013, earlier announced that he will no longer be returning to play the role since Superman: Legacy will be focusing on an earlier part of the hero's life.

The upcoming film serves as Corenswet's first major leading role in a major studio film.

He first gained prominence for starring in the comedy-drama series The Politician before landing a lead role in the drama miniseries Hollywood. He then starred in the films Look Both Ways and Pearl, and the HBO miniseries We Own This City.

Interestingly, Corenswet previously told Entertainment Weekly that it was his dream to play as Superman, as well as how he was aware of his similar looks to Cavill.

"My pie-in-the-sky ambition is definitely to play Superman. I would love to see somebody do an upbeat, throwback [take on Superman]. I love the Henry Cavill dark and gritty take, but I would love to see the next one be very bright and optimistic," he said.

Meanwhile, Brosnahan is best known for playing the title role of an aspiring stand-up comedian in the period comedy series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. She has also appeared in films such as Beautiful Creatures, The Finest Hours, and Spies in Disguise.
